TC Boyle week: #1–a story starter for you!

This week at fighttowrite.com, we’re going to check in with short story writer extraordinaire, T. C. Boyle, via his short story “The Night of the Satellite.” Let’s begin with the beginning:

What we were arguing about that night–and it was late, very late, 3:10 A. M. by my watch–was something that had happened nearly twelve hours earlier. A small thing, really, but by this time it had grown out of all proportion and poisoned everything we said, as if we didn’t have enough problems already.

TRY THIS:

Think of the two people and what was going on with them twelve hours earlier. Where were they? Were they alone, with each other, or were others involved? Write the scene!
