A Plunger is a Writer’s Best Friend

I call CTRL plus F a plunger, because, well, it sucks the SH*@! out. When you hit “control find” and put in THOSE dead words, you may find a lot of crap you need to clean out. I usually start with the word “that” and move on to “be” verbs like “am,” “is,” “are,” “was,” and “were.” We all have our weak language favorites that seem to sneak their way into drafts. The plunger–it’s not just a plumber’s helper, it’s a writer’s helper too!
